Yoichi Tanaka - a Japanese man in his 30s, an Auditor with KPMG Tokyo.


Course: Quatorial +5 for 3 weeks and Quatorial +10 for his final week. Yoichi chose to study in a small group class in the morning, then to concentrate on topics and language specific to auditing in 1-1 classes in the afternoon.

"I have really enjoyed my course for 4 weeks. I could speak English a lot because in my case there were a maximum of only 3 students in each class. So I could concentrate in my class. All the teachers were friendly and kind.  They taught not only English enthusiastically, but also many useful tips about my living in Sydney such as a nice area to live and an excellent restaurant where I will invite my boss. Teachers take us to many sightseeing spots such as the fish market, the Opera House tour and some markets. It's wonderful to communicate with teachers outside the school"

Pavel Chytil - a Czech man in his 40s, a Neurosurgeon and Law teacher in the Medical faculty of Prague University.


Course: Quatorial +5 Pavel chose to study in small group lessons in the morning and to have 1 hour of 1-1 tuition in the afternoon to focus on his specific language needs and areas of interest.

Length of Study: 2 weeks April/May 2011


Pavel's most important focus was to improve his speaking and listening and to advance his fluency and confidence in communication in a school with other adult professionals. He also wanted to see Australia and to stay in executive homestay accommodation.

Annette Buchli - a Swiss German woman in her 50s, a Teacher specializing in Special Needs education


Course: Quatorial Annette chose to study in small group lessons in the morning and to do self-guided study in afternoon Masterclass and practise her fluency in the Spoken Performance classes.

Length of Study: 3 weeks February  March 2011


Annette's goal was to prepare for her Cambridge Advanced exam, specifically to improve her writing, use of different registers and to increase her fluency and confidence in speaking. She wanted a short, intensive programme shared with other professional adults and also planned to travel extensively in Australia.

Yuya Shirane -  a Japanese man in his 30s, an Auditor at KPMG


Course: Quatorial +5 for 3 weeks and +10 for his final week. Yuya chose to study in a small group for his grammar and skills lessons and to practise his fluency then to work on his individual, specific language goals in 1-1 lessons in the afternoon.

Length of course: 4 weeks January 2011


Yuya wished to study in small group classes in a school which attracted adult professionals and he also had specific needs relating to his homestay accommodation which we were able to arrange. Yuya wished to improve his English for communication in meetings, problem solving, on the telephone, emails and reports. Yuya also wanted to practice small talk and discussing his children's education as he was going to live in Melbourne with his family.

"I need to communicate well with foreign people because I will work for an Australian company for one and a half years. It was very useful and helpful for me. The teachers are very helpful and kindful and have patient for my English. Presentation time was very useful for me. I have realized that is is important to have courage and not to be afraid to speak English"

 



Beat Hidber - a Swiss German man in his 40s, a Principal of a High School

Course: Quatorial. Beat chose to study grammar and skills in small group lessons (maximum of 4 students), to do self-guided study in Masterclass and practise his fluency in the Spoken Performance classes in the afternoon.
Length of Study: 6 weeks December 2010/January 2011

Beat wanted to prepare for further academic English exams, specifically to concentrate on vocabulary and tenses. He also wanted to improve and refine his gereral English communication.
"It was a varied course with good topics. The breaks were interesting and pleasant with good discussions between students and teachers. The other lessons I've always been supported in a professional way. Teachers were motivated and helpful. News review: here the teacher was always well informed and interested in the students' news. All teachers, including the principal were always very correct and very nice. I really felt very well."

Course: Quatorial Monica chose small group lessons (maximum of 4 students) in the morning, to focus on her individual language needs in Masterclass and to practise her fluency in the Spoken Performance lesson.

Length of Study: 4 weeks December 2010 to January 2011


Monica wanted to study in small group classes in a school which attracted adult professionals, to stay in executive homestay  accommodation and to travel in Australia. She wanted to improve all areas of English including grammar, reading, writing and with particular emphasis on speaking and listening. She also needed vocabulary specific to her work as well as for general communication. 


"I enjoyed all, the teachers are very good, you are a friendly, kind person. I met there a lot of friends.

The most helpful was writing, reading, speaking, listening. The presentations, section news are very interesting, I could practise my speaking, and they help I speak.

I have improved my vocabulary. I learnt new grammatical structures.

I enjoyed social programme. It is very important for known other students and the teachers".




Masato Kumasaka - a Japanese man in his 30s,  a Business Analyst for McKinsey Tokyo.

Masato wanted to concentrate on the language of meetings, negotiations, presentations and to improve fluency and aural comprehension.


'It's very useful to have lessons in a small number of students because we have a lot of opportunity to speak English. Whenever we hav a question we can ask it and solve it immediately. If we have some preference, teacher incorporate it into the curriculum flexible. We can customize our class to make it more effective."




Katharina Schneider - a German woman in her 20s, Katharina needed to pass the TOEFL test in order to study Economics at university.

'I chose OISE Sydney because it has a good reputation in France and my brother did a course at OISE Heidelberg in Germany. The Tutorial 15 Programme maximised the benefits of my two weeks in the school and allows close contact with the teachers.

OISE Sydney is different from other schools because of the amount of personal attention provided by the teachers and the opportunities to interact both in school and socially with the other students.

The highlight of my stay was the general warm and friendly ambience of the school.

I would advise future students to take advantage of the many opportunities provided to interact with the teachers and the other students'.

'I chose OISE Sydney because it was recommended by the Australian English, few number students in class, adults courses and the location in the center of Sydney.

I need to improve my English to participate in conferences and for only 1 week the Quatorial course seems comprehensive.

At OISE Sydney the English is quickly developed, especially the pronunciation and there is more attention from the teacher. The school is different from others because of the professionalism of the teachers, the friendly relationship between teachers and students. Also, the environment inside the school is excellent, specifically the communication and availability between the staff and students.'

'This is a very intensive course second language school, because the classes are with few students and it's possible to have private teacher.
